How exciting! You are done with your quilt top and ready for the quilting! I am so excited to work with you! I have listed below some great tips on preparing your quilt to go on the longarm. If you have any questions, just contact me and I will be happy to help you.

1. Do not pre-wash your quilt top. Washing the quilt top will shrink the fabric. Sometimes to take care of fullness on the quilt while on the longarm, I will spritz it with water to ease the fullness out for seamless quilting.

2. Check the back of your quilt top to make sure you trim all of the stray threads. This is especially important if you have dark threads that will show through on the lighter fabrics.

3. Do a finishing lap around your quilt. By sewing a 1/8th seam allowance all of the way around, it ensures that your seams will not split.

4. Iron your quilt top and backing fabric.

5. Make sure your backing fabric is at least 8 inches wider and longer than your quilt top. For example, if your quilt is 60 inches by 80 inches, your backing fabric needs to be at least 68 inches by 88 inches.

6. Last but not least, hit the Book a Quilt button!
